Choosing a domain, the short advice from an SEO agency
- The extension matters less than you think..com is still the default people type; .in is fine for an Indian business. Google treats country domains as a geo-signal, so a ccTLD helps local ranking and hurts nothing else.
- Shorter beats clever.If you have to spell it on the phone, it’s too long.
- Don’t keyword-stuff.bestdentistkochi.in isn’t ranking because of the domain; it’s ranking (or not) because of the site.
- Register the obvious variants..com and .in, with and without a hyphen, and point them at the main one. Cheaper than a trademark dispute.
- Never let the registration lapse.Domain drop-catchers watch expiries. Turn on auto-renew.
- Buy the .in if you sell in India.It costs less than a .com, it is the extension Indian customers expect, and it is a clean geo-signal for the market you actually serve.

Do you register .ae and .com.au?
Yes. .com.au requires Australian business identification (yours); .ae has no local presence requirement.
Who owns the domain?
You. It's registered in your name with your contact details; you can transfer it away at any time.
What happens if I don't renew?
Reminders at 60/30/7/1 days. After expiry there's typically a grace period (varies by registry) during which renewal is possible, then a redemption period at a higher fee, then deletion.
Is the free domain really free?
